Classes

This syllabus highlights the developmental skills that children gain, practice, and master during their attendance every day. All activities and lessons described in this curriculum have been developed by a child development and education professional. The activities will be modified accordingly for each age group. Each learning session will be led by a professional, and every child will receive special attention to ensure equal opportunity for learning and play. Please note that the schedule of activities is subject to modification.

Morning Warm-Up Exercises
8:00am–8:30am (all groups)
•    Morning physical exercises
•    Attendance – self identification
•    Calendar – review of weekdays, months, and seasons (weather)
•    Flag – recognition of the country that they live in
•    Song – song of the day

Critical Thinking Skills
8:30am–9:15am (3-5 yr. olds)
•    Math – number identification, count objects to 20, conduct basic addition and subtractions within rage of 20
•    Puzzle/Lego – shape and size identification, sorts and classify objects and shapes, solve puzzle problems, team work and collaboration, color coordination
•    Lessons are conducted in English – children lean the concept of addition and subtraction.

Language Development/Verbal Skills
9:30am–10am (3-5 yr. olds)

11:15am–11:45am (3 yr. olds)
•    English/Armenian Language – visual identification of letters, pronunciation, and word and phrase meaning
•    Poetry – articulation, linguistic exercises, reciting poetry
•    Lessons are conducted in English and in Armenian separately

Social Science Skills
11:45am–12:20pm (2 yr. olds)
11am–11:35am (3 yr. olds)
11:45–12:20pm (4-5 yr. olds)

•    Story Hour – discussion of stories: character identification, characteristics, themes
•    Cartoon – discussion of the morale of the plot, question/answer sessions, review of the main themes of the story
•    Theatre – discussion of social order: family structure, friendship, moral values, society rules and social regulations
•    Puppet Show – reiteration of social scenarios: puppets represent different scenes promoting social principles as sharing, caring, respect for elderly, friendship, relationship between siblings etc.
•    Culture – introduction to diversity, culture, rituals, traditions, values
•    History – introduction to holidays and their significance, heroes, main social and political leaders, famous writers and storytellers, cartoon characters

Science Skills
10:15am–11am (4-5 yr. olds)

•    Introduction to the earth globe and creation of four seasons
•    Identification of night and day – creation of such phenomena
•    Explanation of weather change/creation: atmosphere, clouds, rain, sun, snow, wind, dew, hail, rainbow
•    Identification of oceans, lands, rivers, lakes, countries, capitol of U.S.
•    Map recognition – being able to point continents and oceans
•    Identification and categorization of animals and plants, vegetables and fruits
•    Exploring the environment using five senses – fun experiments with harmless substances (water, ice)

Fine Motor Development - Social Etiquette/Independence
4pm–4:45pm (3-5 yr. olds)

•    Breakfast/Lunch/Afternoon supplement – develop proper eating habits, feed themselves, learn etiquette of eating and bathroom use, practice the use of proper language for personal needs
•    Hand work – painting, drawing, coloring, cutting with scissors on a line, drawing shapes, gluing objects, writing letters and numbers
•    Singing – tone and voice training, rhythm, group singing

Gross Motor Development
•    Napping – able to dress and clean themselves before and after napping time
•    Play Time – physical activities: jump, run, throw, hop, tumble, bicycle riding, group plays, body stretching exercising on play equipment

General Schedule of Activities

•    Everyday we provide breakfast (8:15a.m.), hot lunch (12:30p.m.), hot dinner (3:30p.m.) and afternoon snack (5:00p.m.). All lunches are nutrition and proportion balanced. Children are always offered second servings. Monthly menu is posted.
•    In accordance with state law, nap time is provided for children from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
•    Children will have specific hours for language, science, and basic arithmetic instruction as well as hours for dance lessons, singing, and play.
•    Library Days: Children will be visiting the Glendale Public Library once a month with a week advance notice to the parent/guardian.
•    Field Trip Days: There will be specific days designated to field trips to zoo, parks, or other recreational facilities with a week advance notice to the parent/guardian.
•    The schedule of upcoming activities will be posted on the bulletin board for each age group.
•    Parents/guardians are welcome to inform us about their child’s birthday party in advance to ensure proper arrangements.

 

Graduation Ceremony
